Mr Khawar is the Managing Partner at Shah Khawar and Associates, Barristers, Solicitors and Corporate Consultants. Mr Khawar has a diverse area of expertise, including but not limited to Family Law, Contract Law, Property Law, Company Law, Criminal Law and matter related to Civil Litigation.
He was appointed as a special prosecutor of the National Accountability Bureau in 2017 and is a former judge of the Lahore High Court from March 2014 – March 2015 as well as a senior advocate of the Supreme Court. He has also served as the Deputy Attorney General and Assistant Advocate General of Pakistan.
Dr. Shahid Mahmud is the Chairman and Group CEO of Interactive Group, an organization that has pioneered the advancement of telecommunications, Information Technology, and media infrastructure in Pakistan. He has over 35 years of experience; served on various Federal Committees of the Government of Pakistan helping it to formulate and implement national IT and telecom policies. Finding new pathways to confront formidable challenges, Dr. Mahmud’s expertise and services towards various industries ranges from Engineering to the ICT sectors. In recognition of promoting Pakistan’s Information Communication Technology Industry, Dr. Mahmud was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Teradata National IT Excellence Awards held in Islamabad, Pakistan in 2014.
He is also a Member Advisory Board, Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship at MIT and Trustee, Eisenhower Fellowships Board Trustees. The Eisenhower Fellowship, a global network of international leaders devoted to achieving world peace and prosperity recognized Dr. Mahmud as a McCabe Fellow in 2001; and in 2016, the Fellowship recognized him as the Distinguished Fellow for his continued excellence in his field of endeavor with proven leadership in the EF network.
A philanthropist, Dr. Mahmud is passionate about helping teach young adults and children space education advancing their knowledge on technological trends. His community service and youth- oriented projects include; Buraq Planetary Society, TRUCE, Zubaida Khaliq Memorial Free Hospital and Begum Mehmooda Welfare Trust.
Puruesh Chaudhary is a futures researcher and strategic narrative professional. She is a Distinguished Fellow 2015 at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI). Her work mostly involves futures research, knowledge-collaborations and content intelligence within the framework of human security. She has worked with multilateral donors and aid agencies, news organizations and multinationals in advancing development efforts in Pakistan. Featured amongst the World’s top female futurists. She is the Founder and President of AGAHI, a non-governmental organization, which works extensively on creating shared spaces for interactive learning, collaborative thinking and knowledge sharing. Pakistan Foresight Initiative, a project of AGAHI aims to improve policymaking and strategic narratives on key priority areas of the Foresight Lab; facilitative platform – a thinkware that is engaging legislators, strategists, academicians and the community for developing shared understanding for effective implementation of decisions.
Championing “Shaping the future of journalism”, Chaudhary has co-founded Pakistan’s annual journalism awards (The AGAHI Awards); content analysis framework (Media Credibility Index and Ethical Media Audit). She is a Mentor for the UN-Habitat Youth Fund Programme and is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Future Robot Life. She is also a Member Network of Global Future Councils of the World Economic Forum on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Shazia Zaidi is an educationist and a certified Director with a track record of running high performance and successful educational ventures. With an advanced knowledge of policy making, I have contributed towards several national and regional forums Asia Institute of Public Policy and Center for Global & Strategic Studies. As an Alum of National Defense University (NDU) she has organized and engaged in think tanks about macro-economic issues like national security, CPEC and infrastructure development. As part of the Executive Board of the Bloomfield Hall Group and Dupak Tameer, she is well-acquainted with the nuts and bolts of project management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), staff training & development and corporate compliance.
Driven by the passion to give back to the society, she has held honorary positions in Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG), SOS Children’s village, Mausikaar Welfare Trust, Islamabad Crescent Lions Club and Global Dignity. Through these platforms she has actively initiated high impact activities for community building, preservation of art and general welfare.
Kanza is a practicing lawyer at a Karachi based law firm. She graduated from the University of London with an LL.B degree in 2018. She is also a 2014 business graduate from the Institute of Business Administration, Karachi.
Apart from her work experience in the corporate sector and at the law firm, she has also led a team of researchers at the Karachi Urban Lab, IBA on the legal aspect of a two year research funded by the International Development Research Center, Canada regarding issues of compensation and displacement that arise from the politics in land and infrastructure governance in Pakistan.
She is a strong proponent of adopting technology and using innovative methods to strengthen the justice system in Pakistan.
Ayesha Iqbal is the founding Executive Director of Alif Se Insaiyat based in Karachi, Pakistan. She formed the organization to empower the marginalized communities and improve the access to education and health facilities. Barrister Iqbal also routinely meets with partners, grantees, government representatives and various organizations to further the Foundation’s goal of improving equity in Pakistan and across the world.
She has a vast experience in teaching law and has also been the Director Law Programme at a University of London LLB (Hons) Programme, Recognised Teaching Centre spearheading the law programme. She has also been an integral member in creating economic opportunities for women in rural areas and creating educational access for young girls in remote areas. With financing and overseeing of building of all girls’ school in the district of Sanghar, Sindh, Pakistan, Barrister Iqbal has encouraged families to send their young girls to schools to receive basic education in a protected and safe environment in line with the customs and traditions of those localities.
